Dr. Allan Steinhardt

Dr. Allan Steinhardt is Chief Scientist at AEye, Inc., a premier provider of intelligent, next-generation adaptive LiDAR for vehicle autonomy, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and robotic vision applications. He develops innovative solutions for passive and active optical sensing for robotics.

An IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)fellow and expert on radar, missile defense and sensor-based surveillance, he served as chief scientist for DARPA and Booz Allen; a radar project lead at MIT Lincoln Laboratory; and director of signal processing for the defense industry at BAE/Alphatech.

Dr. Steinhardt was also an assistant professor in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics at Cornell University, where he performed funded research on sensor arrays and optimal detection.

He is a former member of the National Academy of Sciences Naval Studies Board, and recipient of the US Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service. He has 32 patents under his belt, with 50 more pending.

He has co-authored a book on adaptive radar and published more than 200 articles in academic and defense strategy journals, exploring various areas of space-, land- and naval-based electronic warfare, sensor, and radar systems.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, and graduate degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado.
